Bubble, Bubble, Toil, and Trouble….

Parents,

Our room parent has provided a cauldron to collect Halloween candy and treats for our party! If you are interested in helping us out just have your children bring it to school any time. Our party will be on the 23rd.

Halloween Poem

Students should be bringing home a poem called “October” to memorize. They will present it to me next Wed.  (the 14th) It will make up their oral language grade! I will be grading how many words they say correctly and on speaking slowly, loudly, and clearly. I will also grade based on if they look at their audience or not.

Book Orders

They are due this Friday! If possible, please pay for it in the form of a check. It makes my life a lot easier! Write it out to Scholastic Book Clubs. Thanks !  : )

Walk to School Day

Monday is walk to school day! The UDOT and Big Budah will be here! They will be out front in the morning! So please come support us! Two students will be winning a bike!

Just their spelling and vocab.

Vocab. Words

I forgot to get the students their vocab. words for the week! Our spelling and vocab. (Test will be on Wed. this week instead of Thurs. since it’s a short week!) Here are the words and definitions-

Sum- The answer to an addition problem

Difference- The answer to a subtraction problem

Addition- An operation that tells the total number when you put together two or more numbers.

Subtraction- An operation that tells the diference between two numbers, or how many is left after some are taken away.

Graph- A picture that shows data in an organized way

Jog-a-thon tomorrow!

Our fundraiser event is tomorrow! Come dressed appropriately. Don’t forget your permission slips and fundraiser packets if you haven’t turned them in already!

Tonight’s homework

We did a review packet in class today. If your child hasn’t finished it, they need to work on that. They may need some help with some of it. I checked all the their papers and marked the ones that still needed to be corrected.  If they are working on that- they don’t need to do any other math tonight. You would just write “review worksheet” on their math box homwork record paper. If they still have questions, they can come in and talk to me in the morning before school and I will help them with it.

Math Test

Parents- we are having a math test on Wed. It will be about graphs- line graphs, line plots, stem and leaf plots, coordinates, bar graphs, and pictographs. They may need to focus on the stem and leaf plots over the next few days. They were a little confused today. I will try and review it with them tomorrow in class. They also need to understand how to find range, median, and mode of a group of numbers!  We will start a new unit with new math box assignments next week!
