June 1-4

Hey all! Just a couple of things for next week.

May reading calendars are due no later than Friday, but as soon as possible.

Also, remember to bring your library books on Tuesday!

This Week

sorry this post is getting put up so late!  A couple of things:

1- Thursday they have Music, so they need to bring their recorders. We also have our spelling and vocab. test.

2- County Reports- We are finished working on them in class. I am going to collect and grade them all over the weekend. I will put their score inside their binder and send it home with them when we come back next Tues. They can then take it home and re-do anything they want to to change their score. It just needs to come back when they do their oral presentation- even if they didn’t make any changes.

Weather Book

Hi all! I had students turn in their weather books on Friday, I only had about 1/3rd of the class turn them in. If they have the book at home, remind them to get it turned in on Monday!

Math Homework: May 24-28th

There isn’t a mathbox homework these next two weeks. Instead, we are going to do a review packet as we are getting ready for the big CRT test coming up in two weeks. Each day they will be asked to do a page. Here is the outline for this week:

Mon.- page 1

Tues.- page 2

Wed. pg. 3

Thurs. pg. 4

Fri.- We will go over their answers together, so make sure they turn it in this day! : )

Fractions Test

Just a note- I will be trying to send home the math tests on Friday. On the Key I bubbled in a wrong answer for problem #3, so when it scanned their tests, most of the students got it marked wrong. I didn’t change their score on the test their taking home, but I did check each one. If I wrote “ok” over problem #3 it increased their score by 1 pt. I did change the score, on my computer, as I recorded the grades.

Don’t forget to turn in Math Box tomorrow! ; )

Upcoming events

Hi there! There are a few important things to note this week;

1)Students should be filling out their weather books all this week at home and bringing them back to class.

2) Mrs. Erickson, who teaches music, says that our class sounds pretty bad on the “My Country Tis of Thee” on their recorders. They need to be practicing this at home! I am asking that they bring their recorders to school everyday from now on. We will try and practice it together when we have extra time in class. There will be a test on it, probably the third week of June. I will get you a specific date soon.

3) I sent home a note telling exactly which day each students county report is to be presented! If you haven’t recieved it, ask your child about it. If they can’t find it, e-mail me and I will let you know the date. Everything will be due that day- the oral report, projects, and the written projects. I am hoping that we will be done with the written report  by next week. I will collect and grade them, then send them home to help prepare for the oral report. They can make changes on their written report if they would like and I will re-score it when they present their oral report.

4) They will have a test on fractions on Thursday! It is everything they’ve been working on in their Math box this week and last- equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, adding and subtracting with different denominators, fractions of a whole number, etc.

Pioneer Day!

We did lots of fun and games that pioneer children would have done! We had a cow pie toss, made butter and candles, and lots of other fun things. We even did some square dancing! Here are a few pictures from our day!

Baby Shower!

Thank you so much for throwing me a shower! Mr. Ting and I sure appreciate all the support! We are so looking forward to the arrival of our little one. We had such a fun time. I was so excited for the party! Attached are some fun pictures! Thank you so much for all the nice letters for Teacher Appreciation Week! I really enjoyed reading through those.

Welcome Back!

Parents! There is a lot going on this week- Here is what you need to know:

1. Homework-

  • They should have brought home their Math Box assignments for the next two weeks.
  • A weather book. They need to fill it out and bring it back to school with them every day for the next two weeks. They can use the news, the internet, radio, or newspapers. If you don’t have access to any of those, please let me know.
  • A May reading calendar! The April ones are due
  • County Reports- I have sent home their assigned due date for their project.
  • Dance Pioneer Dance- This poem needs to be memorized by the time of the county program, June 28th. They should already know their part, but if they don’t they need to practice it.

2. School Pictures- If you are not planning on purchasing them, please return them ASAP! If you are purchasing them, send in the money ASAP! Thanks!

3. Pioneer Day-

This will be all day on Friday! The students can dress up if they like. If you have volunteered to come and help, be here around 8:45. If you are bringing in supplies, you can bring them in anytime this week, although I recommend bringing the bread the day before or the day of. Also, remember to have your child pack a cold lunch that day if you are not purchasing a school one.
