Film Club
This month our movie is ” Sand Lot”. We will meet on the 23rd to discuss it during lunch. I recommend looking at the public library or netflix to find some of these films. Places like Blockbuster and Hollywood only have some of them.
Math Test!
The class has a test on place value on Thursday. As I am looking over their work, I am noticing that they are struggling with where the hundreths and tenths place is. They also should review rounding to the nearest whole number- when rounding decimals. Also, understanding that the word “and” means a decimal!
Jog-a-thon!
We are working on this years fundraiser! Please support us! It is how we pay for field trips, holiday treats, etc. We are asking students to go out and get $10 in donations. We are not selling anything this year, just donating and running. Each student will join us on our run on Sept. 24th. It is during school, but I don’t know what our time will be. I will let you all know when I do. We are going to try to run 2 mi. Each student who gets ten dollars or more will get a free t-shirt! There’s an permission slip and envelope coming home. Please keep them until the week of the 24th!

September Reading Calendar
I put the Sept. reading calendar in the Friday Folders! Your students should read 20 min. a night / 100 min. a week/ or 400 min. a month. It will be due at the end of the month. They will read every month, even during off track time.
Fun Friday!
We had a great time during Fun Friday today! They tried to build the tallest tower out of nothing but dry spaghetti noodles and gum drops! Congratulations Kyle, Allie, Britain, Nathan B., and Caden K.!
Swine Flu
As we begin this coming year, there are things to know concerning swine flu. Please, if you have any symptoms, do NOT come to school. We will get you caught up in class. We don’t need to pass it around the classroom. I will do my best to keep the classroom as clean as possible. Speak to your children about keeping hands out of their eyes and mouths at school. Remind them of how important it is to wash their hands often! Thank you for your help.
